Growing on 30 days and counting

It has been a trying time for the veggies since planting on May 11. During the intervening period, they received 81 mm of rainfall. Only problem is that 54mm of the rain fell on just two of those days. The rest of the time they were treated to cold north winds and average temperature of 15 C. On May 23 came the heavy frost - yikes. Fortunately, most of the seeds had not emerged due to the chilly weather after planting. A brugmansia that had been grown all winter indoors was not so fortunate - it was killed.

The bug population is making itself known now and many of the carrots and beets are showing their work, or rather, are no longer showing at all. The rows had to be thinned and the following photos are the post-thinning status.
